Our family loves to drive up to Roan Mountain State Park. It’s a great escape for the weekend for us because
the kids love it and we get down time from our hectic lives. The cabins are perfect and there is nothing like sneaking outside before anyone wakes up and getting in that first cup of coffee in the crisp spring air. The cabin
we get is nestled back in the woods, sitting on our front porch in my rocking chair I can almost feel the stress
of the work week evaporate in the woods around me.Additional information can be found at http://chicagoist.com/2011/04/11/the_greencards.php.
We love the summers there too. They always seem to have things planned that families can do. I love to watch the crafters and look at their wares. My husband loves the fishing and hiking trails. My kids love the story tellers
and we all love the bluegrass music and the cloggers.
You almost dread going back home after a weekend or week of enjoying the simple pleasures of life. Going back to the basics, living the simple life, and just enjoying my family away from the rat race; that is becoming something I treasure more and more. Try it, you just might get hooked like we did.
