Home > Water Quality Control Board

Board Characteristics: Ten members: seven appointed by the Governor for four-year terms and three ex officio. The Commissioner of Environment and Conservation shall be Chairman and an ex-officio member. In the Commissioner's absence, a chairman shall be elected at each board meeting. The Commissioner of Health and Commissioner of Agriculture shall serve as ex-officio members. Five citizen members shall be appointed: one member shall be from the public-at-large, one member shall be representative of agricultural interests appointed from a list of persons nominated by the Tennessee Farm Bureau, one member shall be representative of the municipalities of the state appointed from a list of persons nominated by the Tennessee Municipal League, one member shall be representative of industries appointed from a list of persons nominated by the Tennessee Association of Business, one member shall be representative of small generators of water pollution appointed from a list of persons nominated by the Tennessee Automotive Association, one member shall be representative of environmental interests appointed from a list of persons nominated by the Tennessee Conservation League; and one member shall be representative of counties appointed from a list of persons nominated by the Tennessee County Services Association.
