Tennessee does not operate a certification program for radon testers and mitigators. However, EPA set up a national radon proficiency program for radon testers and mitigators. It is operated through the National Environmental Health Association (NEHA)Exit the TDEC web site and the National Radon Safety Board (NRSB)Exit the TDEC web site.

Be sure to check the type of certification the tester or mitigator holds to help ensure that person is appropriately credentialed to perform the job you need done. NEHA generally updates the lists of testers and mitigators on a weekly basis.

Consumer Tip

Even though someone may be on a list for Tennessee, that does not preclude certified testers and mitigators in other states from doing work in Tennessee. When searching for radon professionals in areas near state borders, consumers are advised to check surrounding states and cities.
