Hiking

Enjoy the Island Loop Trail, which meanders almost 3-miles through a beautiful hardwood forest along the river. More relaxing than strenuous, the trail offers the hiker a glimpse of wildlife and natural wonders of this resort park.

Picnic Facilities

Six pavilions located in the day use area with tables, grills, and nearby bathroom facilities.  Two can be reserved.  There are five shelters on the park. The CCC built two of the lakeside shelters in the late 1930’s. Of the other three, two also offer lake front views, while the third is located adjacent to the playground. Up to 150 people can be accommodated at each pavilion. Two of the shelters can be reserved up to a year in advance for a small fee. All of the shelters have grills, 2 have running water. The main picnic area is accessible to wheelchairs.

There are 100+ tables located throughout the park. Most offer lake front picnicking while others are located near the playground. All picnic tables have grills, none have running water.

Playgrounds and Sports Fields

Pickwick Landing offers one playground located near the picnic area. While some sports equipment is available, bringing your own is recommended.

Programs

Year-round events, such as bird and snake programs, nature hikes, and tree identification presentations are very popular. Special arrangements can be made for your group, no matter how small. Call the Park Office for program information (731) 689-3129.
