WARRIOR’S PATH STATE PARK TO HOLD AUTUMN HARVEST FESTIVAL OCTOBER 18
Kingsport, Tenn. – Warrior’s Path State Park in Kingsport will host an Autumn Harvest Festival from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 18, featuring a variety of educational programs, entertainment opportunities, food, arts and crafts. This festival is free and open to the public.
“Autumn Harvest will be a delightful event that celebrates the heritage of this beautiful area and of Tennessee,” said Park Ranger Monique Johnson. “We have exciting opportunities for all ages and we encourage everyone to come out and join us.”
The Autumn Harvest Festival will feature living history and pioneer demonstrations, including quilting, apple butter making, natural dying, spinning and blacksmithing. Along with soap-making demonstrations by Smoky Mountain Lye Soap, Oakmoon Farm and Creamery also will be on hand to demonstrate how goat cheese is made. In addition to food and craft vendors, entertainment will include live Blue Grass music and cloggers beginning at 11 a.m. in the recreation building. Featured history demonstrations at the event will include the Warrior’s Path Muzzleloaders encampment, where visitors will learn more about the life of a Tennessee long hunter. Visitors are also encouraged to visit the Museum of Middle Appalachia’s unique fossil exhibit.
Warriors' Path State Park is located on the shores of TVA’s Patrick Henry Reservoir on the Holston River and was named for the park's proximity to the ancient war and trading path used by the Cherokee. Since that time, the park land has known a long history of travelers, and still serves as a pathway for modern-day outdoor enthusiasts. The 950-acre area was acquired from the Tennessee Valley Authority is 1952, to serve the people who live in or visit this section of Northeast Tennessee.
